Dr. Akhileswar Patel, a Rengcolian, came to USA in the year 1982 to Stevens Institute of Technology as a Visiting Scientist after 10 years of academic career at Regional Engineering College, Rourkela  and Berhampur university in the faculty of Physics. He was also the member of faculty at Stevens Institute of Technology till 1992 and a short span in NJIT, Newark, NJ. His industrial career heading the quality control at Electrocatalytic, Union, NJ   was illuminating but not promising and so he resigned and made a U-turn from Science to Finance and joined AXA-Equitable as a Financial Advisor in 1998, till today he is with AXA. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Hindu American Temple and Cultural Center (HATCC) of NJ and in the steering committee of ISKCON, Central Jersey.

Dr. Patel is a strong supporter of OSA and attends local OSA events and annual conventions regularly. He has played in various roles such as seminar speaker, organizer and a supporter. He is a Co-convener of 40th OSA Convention, 2009. Dr. Patel entered into family business of Day Care Centers under the Franchiser “The Learning Experience” in 2003 and own, at present four of them at different states of USA. Dr. Patel and Mrs. Basanti Patel have three daughters and a son and seven grand children.
