Conventions: Conventions are normally held during the 4th of July weekend. The Convention is a time for relaxation, cultural entertainment and social exchange. Attempts are made for special activities for youth and children at the Convention.

Cultural Promotion: Odissi dance form is an ancient tradition and has received world-wide recognition with its beautiful footwork and theatrics. The associated Odissi music is also unique in its composition and lyrical style. OSA supports cultural artists on tour to USA and helps in organizing workshops and program events in association with other sponsoring organizations.

Festivals: Through its Chapters OSA participates in ethnic celebrations in various communities in USA and Canada. The display of Orissan textiles, handicrafts of wood, stone and bronze, and silver filigree is popular with the visitors. Demonstration of Oriya cooking, dress and makeup is done for large national events. Oriya sweets and snacks are in large demand at the festivals.

Religious and Social Events: OSA Chapters participate in religious events in their local areas and help out the temples, churches, mosques and synagogues in the area. The members act as volunteers in religious celebrations and assist in community social events on demand. Inter- cultural associations are an important facet of Oriya life in USA and Canada.

Oriya Language: Several Chapters organize local Oriya schools for children. In the past, there have been efforts to facilitate teaching of Oriya at some universities, to make available a new phonetic editor for easy learning, and to distribute Oriya books, periodicals and movies to promote literature and arts.

Motherland Development: We advocate and speak with the state and national governments about Orissa and her people's lasting progress. We support morally or financially a few grass-roots development organizations and promote educational activities. Stay Tuned for more.
