Fundraising for Odisha Flood 2011

 

 

 

Dear Friends,

Please be generous and donate to OSA to help flood victims of Orissa.

It is very encouraging that I have already received checks for $950 and $430 in pledge. I want to thank everyone who have pledged or already sent their donation. If you have not done so please send your contribution at the earliest as we may be able to send anything over $2500 to Odisha Red Cross Society in addition to $2500 already sent through Rama Krishna Mission. Although we have not set any goal we should be able to raise $10,000 from our community.  

Please do the needful as no amount is too small. Please make your tax deductible donation payable to 'OSA' and mail it to 3916 Gladstone Dr., Naperville, IL 60565.

Dear Members of OSA,

As you all know, our home state Odisha is going through a severe flood situation as major rivers, including Mahanadi, caused at least
22 breaches, marooning lakhs of people all over the state.The people mainly in the districts of Angul, Kendrapara, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur have been left stranded and lakhs of homes have been submerged in water. The Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Manmohan Samal states that "the breaches on the embankments of the Mahanadi and its branches in the delta have affected over 10 lakh people in 15 districts."

We had an OSA board of Governors (BOG) conference call last night and decided to make an appeal to all the Odias for generous donations to help the people of Odisha in this dire situation. Whatever we can afford, we should contribute to OSA. We have decided to start a special initiative to collect donations for the recent Flood in Odisha,2011. Our OSA members are requested to send their charitable donations payable to "OSA", with a note on the left bottom indicating purpose - "Odisha Flood 2011" to:

Members can claim charitable donations in their Federal Tax Return for FY 2011.  Your generous contribution will help the needy and affected people at the most crucial time.
