The Orissa Society of the Americas(OSA) is a non-political, non-profit, and voluntary Association, recognized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in the United States. OSA was founded in 1969, in Boston by a small group of Oriyas as a social association to emulate some of the Oriya ethnicity into life in the United States. It held an annual get-together called convention, where people of Oriya origin from different parts of USA and Canada mingled and shared experiences of ethnic living.

The organization has now spread into fourteen regional chapters, which operate as a social umbrella for different regions in the US and Canada. The chapters arrange various activities such as religious festivals, social get together, cultural events and participate in the cultural life of the local community as representatives of Oriya culture. Besides these the annual convention is known as the centerpiece of the OSA's activities.

OSA leadership consists of a national govering body with elected positions of a President, a Vice President and a Secretary/Treasurer. They appoint an Editor who takes care of the news of the organization. The chapters are administered by locally elected officials. The national Governing Body and the Presidents of the Chapters form the OSA Executive Council, which acts as a policy-making body.

The membership is open to individuals and families interested in Orissa, the eastern coastal state of India, to promote activities for a better understanding of Oriya culture and exchange of information between Orissa and the United States and Canada.
