The Guidelines for OSA Idol 2009 NY-NJ

  1. The age limit for the show is 12 years and above. However we do welcome children below 12 years of age, provided we have time to accommodate those.
  2. The show is expected to take place on the evening of the 4th of July 2009. The exact time however remains to be further discussed.
  3. Show items can include songs, one act play, dances, and playing instruments.
  4. Performances and performers will be judged on their costumes, presentation, and selection of song/dance/theme.
  5. Though it is not an absolute requirement but Odiya culture based items (like Odiya songs/dance based on Odiya songs etc), will be a definite plus. However this competition enforces and follows equal consideration to all and the mail judging criteria’s will be based on No. 4 point of these guidelines for OSA idol.
  6. The maximum time limit for performance is 3 minutes, which will be strictly enforced and will be part of the final judgment in this competition.
  7. All items should be Solo numbers. Group participation will not be entertained.
  8. There is no live orchestra but there will be provisions for MP3 players.  Singers and dancers who require the use of background/accompanying music are expected to make and bring their own CD arrangements (e.g. you are expected to arrange your own karaoke tunes in MP3 format).
  9. Participants are expected to arrive on time for the show. Any expected delays should be informed to the committee at least 2 hours prior to the commencement of the show.
  10. Participants are expected to email the following information to anindita_nanda@hotmail.com and/or bjmohapatra@gmail.com or osa09cultural@osanynj.org, no later than March 31st 2009. Late entries will be given preference, only under pressing circumstances.
  11. There will be assigned judges (number to be decided later) to judge on the performances of the participants and there will be a public voting system to select the winner.
