Event Highlights

Performing Arts Programme- Odissi dance is the heart of Odia art and culture. In addition to odissi, we would like to include tribal dance, gotipua and chhau.We aim to present a high quality entertainment programme by the top invited artists, but at the same time, we intend to emphasize the local talents and maintain a balanced programme.

Seminars and Lecture/Demonstrations- on issues of interest to the Odias (Literary through Odia poetry reading; Odissi dance demonstration; Odissa development and Education; Women; Health and Healthcare issues) featuring distinguished personalities and experts from both India and North America.

Films- made by the Odia youth will be screened.

Exhibitions- Memories of 40 years of OSA, oriya food and orissa tourism information.

Youth Forum- participation by all youths of Odias to exchange ideas on how to propagate and promote Odia culture in North America through seminars. Simultaneously, care will be taken by presenting entertaining programme for the toddlers as well as the teens to make the convention an attractive and a memorable event. We are also planning to showcase the exceptional talents our second generation youth have achieved.  

Reunions- for alumni such as those from Ravenshaw College and NIT Rourkela (previously REC).

Stalls- Facilities for setting up commercial stalls to display and sell various items of interest to convention participants.

Tentative Convention Schedule:

• Thursday, July 2: Arrival, Registration: 6.00 pm, Informal gathering and Mehfil : 10 pm.

• Friday, July 3: Opening Ceremony 10.00 am., Lunch: 12 noon, Program:  2 pm, Cultural evening: 5.30pm, Dinner: 8 pm., Mehfil: 11 pm.

• Saturday, July 4: Lunch: 12 noon, Program: 2pm., Cultural evening and closing: 5.30 pm, Dinner: 8 pm., Mehfil: 11 pm.

• Sunday, July 5: Departure.
