Community Relations
There are
conflicts in every Oriya communities. Specifically when more people are
involved, more conflicts can arise. The duties of the committee members are to
find reasons of various conflicts in Oriya communities, try different strategies
to resolve the conflict and document success/failure experiences.

Convention Management

Conventions have become more expensive and people are thinking twice before
saying "yes" to take charge of the convention.. What can we do?

convention be given to a professional “meeting management” company?

to make convention organization more rewarding and less stressful?

Retrieve rare documents relating to OSA history from various sources such as
old souvenir issues, talking to past OSA officers, past OSA members etc.

Review old communications on OSA matters in Ornet and retrieve important
information and document it to be kept in OSA file because those information
may be lost some day.

Create documents for various purposes such as sample GBM report, sample
seminar session, sample announcement for award nomination, sample
fundraising procedure, managing OSA members

Events/Cultural
This
would include planning and implementing activities for cultural promotion and
propagation. For example:

Organizing Oriya open houses in a Mall area, offering Oriya food, providing
Oriya entertainment with dance workshops, music workshops, language
workshops

Regional Oriya music festival, Oriya dance festival and Oriya drama
festival.

Inviting artists from Orissa and engaging them.

Creating quality music to be appreciated by Oriya youth in immigrant
countries.
Finance/Audit
This
consists of 2 parts, finance committee and audit committee.
Finance
committee members would be involved in planning for a better financial health of
OSA, fund-raising strategy, better fund management, financial reporting,
preparing the budget, communicating the financial status to members by writing
report and making presentations.
Audit
committee members would be responsible for auditing the finance in yearly basis
and then for the complete term. Use professionalism although doing the task as a
volunteer.
Fundraising

Orissa Development/NROFC

Create projects for developmental activities in USA, Canada and Orissa
- The
developmental activities in USA/Canada include activities such as Archives
creation, membership growth and outreach activities

Development activities in Orissa would include grassroot developmental
activities and educational development activities. Some examples are
creating OSA scholarships in schools, building a school library, building a
public library, organizing educational seminars, health seminars, creating
income resources, securing funds for disaster relief etc.
OSA Outreach/Public Relations
The goal
is to propagate Oriya language and culture through outreach activities. Product
goal is some Oriya learning material in "Mo Patha" style, interesting and
appealing Oriya music etc.

Facilitating Orissa and OSA cultural exploration, joint ventures in

The task
is to create some standards documents.

Standard document for various interactions with Oriya dignitaries, embassy
officials, OSA guests etc.

Creating a measuring scale for success.
Parliamentarian
The
parliamentarian should be able to help in handling meetings by following
parliamentary procedure. This includes e-meetings as well as BOG meetings and
GBM meetings during the convention. The person needs knowledge in parliamentary
procedure such as various motions, handling motions, priorities of various
motions etc.

of this section would be catering the needs of women in North American countries
